Three manuscripts related to the Revolutionary War military service of Dr. David Townsend: commission as surgeon in Jonathan Brewer's regiment of the Mass. Militia, signed by James Warren (12 July 1775); a letter to Townsend from Benedict Arnold (6 Aug. 1778) regarding the education of the children of Joseph Warren who fell at the Battle of Bunker Hill; and Townsend's loyalty oath (5 Aug. 1781).
